This Red Cedar Bear and Salmon Panel was carved by Native American Artist Trevor Hunt from the Kwakiutl or Kwakwaka´wakw Nation. The panel features a Black Bear Design as well as a Sockeye Salmon Design (upside down) on the top right of the panel.

The Bear Symbol represents strength, family, vitality courage and health. The bear is thoughtful and independent, with little need for fellowship. The bear is also self-contained and strong-willed in nature. A Bear is of great support and comfort to those who crave human company simply for personal reassurance rather than for the simple pleasure of being with friends. He makes lonely periods of life far easier.

The Salmon symbolizes abundance, fertility, prosperity and renewal. For thousands of years, Salmon have been the primary food source for Northwest Coast Native Americans and are highly respected.

The red cedar panel is about 3 feet or over 91 centimeters in diameter and about 1 3/4 inches or 4 1/2 centimeters thick.
